Thursday (22nd March, 6.30pm-7.30pm) is the second of the series of sonic adventures starting at Westspace (225 Bourke St). Guest artist is Mr Shen who will be playing Er Hu (Chinese violin). He can sometimes be seen busking on the streets of Melbourne. Below is a little background info about Mr Shen, written by his daughter-in-law, Sue:
Shen Hui Shan was born in China.
His first “Er Hu”: when he was 19 year old, his father bought him Er Hu…..and he start to play by himself…..at that time the Er Hu was cost RMB4.5
when he was 21 , he joined the art team in his working place
when he was 22, he got an offer from “Shanghai work’s cultural music team” start to play Er Hu
when he was 25, he stop play Er Hu because “China Cultural Revolution” until…….
when he was 31, he teach his second son for half year……but no luck…..he give up…
when he was 61, he arrived Australia he carry Er Hu with him….but didn’t play much…..until
when he was 71, his grand child would like to learn Er Hu…..(2010)
4/19/2011 he would like to help grand child to proform Er Hu….he start take her with him to busking until today.
